Mug for by Jo Langthorne
Special Edition of 6 made for our 10 year Anniversary.
Jo Langthorne previously studied at University of Brighton studying 3d Design. She now make small batches of hand-built ceramics from her home studio in London alongside her freelance design work.
The functional earthenware pieces reflect her love of colour and surface pattern. Collaged shapes form a major part of the making process, both in the paper stencils used to mask the layers of slip and underglazes and as hand-cut decals fired onto the glazed surface.
Inspiration is taken from landscapes, maps and natural forms – abstracted into repeat patterns and shapes, with a mid-century flavour. The nature of hand-built ceramics mean that every piece has its own quirks and individuality.
It is great to be part of the 10 year anniversary collaboration at
Dowse, having studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton.
Hand wash only for a long life.
